Safety and General Information

The MV Southern Cross has a capacity of 100 guests for a cocktail party, sit down dinner, or buffet.  Smaller groups can be accommodated in board room or theatre seating layout.

Yes. The MV Southern Cross has been designed to allow easy access to all patrons, including wheelchairs, prams and walking frames.

Yes, we have full restroom facilities including a male, female and disabled toilet.

Both levels of the vessel are enclosed, with climate control on both levels. There are also three outside areas with seats and cushions for those sunny days.

All of our skippers are certified with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and are trained First Aid Officers. Customer safety is our first priority and our Skipper will advise of the safety procedures before departure. While the MV Southern Cross is an extremely safe vessel, we will not go out in extreme weather, winds over 70km/hr, or high fog conditions.

Booking Cancellations

If you need to cancel your Private Charter cruise, please contact us as soon as possible, by phone on 6273 1784 or use our Contact Form.

If the cruise is cancelled 60 days or more prior to the booked date, we will provide you with a voucher to the amount of the deposit, redeemable for food, beverages, boat hire charges or room hire charges at the Canberra Southern Cross Club (not redeemable for cash). The voucher will be valid for 12 months from the date of cancellation.

If the cruise is cancelled 59-15 days prior to function being held, your deposit will not be refunded and 50% of your estimated total cost will be charged.

If the cruise is cancelled 14 days or less prior to the function, your deposit will not be refunded and 100% of your estimated total cost will be charged.

A date change will be treated as a cancellation according to the terms and conditions above, unless we are able to rebook the Private Charter cruise.

If you need to cancel your Sightseeing or Dining cruise, please contact us as soon as possible.  We require two business days notice to cancel a Lunch or Dinner cruise, For a Sightseeing cruise, we need to know by close of business the day before the scheduled cruise. Pick up and Drop off Points

The MV Southern Cross uses three convenient pick up points around the lake. You may disembark at any of the same three points at the end of your tour.

Responsible Service of Alcohol

The MV Southern Cross does not permit BYO, but there is a fully stocked bar on board including a number of local products.

After your Cruise

Once you have disembarked from your cruise, why not venture up to the Southern Cross Yacht Club (a short walk, around 200 metres from the Lotus Bay point) and enjoy a delicious meal from either our restaurant, our relaxed bar menu, or try our award winning fish and chips from Snapper & Co. Each area has a unique food offer so it’s sure to appeal to all appetites. You  might like to relax on our balcony with a drink, while you enjoy the beautiful view.
